Welcome to Friday - the best day of the week.

Yes… you gathered given the piece’s title and the above photo. It is though. It’s the best day of the week and there’s no better time to celebrate that than - on a Friday. And today is Friday.

Now, I don’t say this lightly, this business of Friday being the best day of the week. Because it still is, even though the work world and even the school world isn’t as hard-wired to a weekly calendar as it was when I was coming up.

When I was a young guy…

Friday was it. The end of the work week. The end of the school week. And possibilities existed on Friday’s that weren’t (and still aren’t) available on any other day or night of the week.

Also - in those days - as we old guys say - it was really the end of the work week. Nobody had cellphones. Nobody had email. You went home from your job and that was that. Your boss tried to reach you at home… you would have thought the world had gone mad. He or she would have too.

No - when the final Friday bell sounded at school, or when the final time card was punched at the job on a Friday - that was it. You were free.

And Friday was the most magical night there could be. And it still is - in enough respects to give me a very different vibe than any other day of the week.

C’mon - I’ll prove it to ya - I’ll prove that Friday is still the best day of the week.
