Dear reader,

As some of you may know, I’ve been on a 100 day odyssey1 of sharing my words online. Today is Day 50. We are halfway through. Woohoo!

One of my favourite questions is: “What changes have you noticed in me?”

I love asking it to friends or telling my friends about the changes I observed in them. Today, I wanted to ask this question to myself.

  1. You start enjoying taking decisions - what to post, when to post, how to post. This happens because why to post - the reason why you want to show up gets stronger with every post - to vote in favour of creativity and against perfectionism.

  2. You discover what you want to post regularly AFTER you’ve started posting regularly. This is bad news for your inner planner. When you start showing your work, you find new ways to dress up your essays and poems. New visual styles. New ways to make reels that suit your neurotype.

  3. Your inner well starts to dry up. Which is good news. You begin to crave for good creative and intellectual nutrition. You want to bury yourself in books.

  4. You realize everyday is different. Consistency is not about being equally productive everyday, but honouring your unique needs, every unique day.

  5. You start to consume more on social media. But because you want to keep your sanity, you’re compelled to draw better boundaries. You post and ghost so you can focus on point #3.

  6. To your utter surprise, you start focusing on your health. Because if you can show up for your creativity everyday, why not show up for your best creative partner - your body?

  7. You receive support from friends, strangers, and wait for it - even your inner critic. Once she realizes you are not going to stop, she adjusts her glasses and helps you craft your work better.

  8. You finally pamper yourself. Buy stationery and art supplies because you can trust yourself again. You’ve stopped betraying your creative self.

  9. You feel brave. You make mistakes. Both are true. You are finally human. But when you make mistakes, surprisingly, nobody dies. You remember this so you can coax your fear and keep going.

  10. You feel closer to yourself. It’s an erotic and humorous connection. You realize this was the whole point. Facing everyone so you can face yourself.

Which of these changes attract you or resonate with you? Are you in a quieter season of your creativity or would you like to start a small project of your own? Please do let me know.
