After nearly 5 years of hard work and sacrifice, Noah and I are pleased to announce that our video game TetherGeist is officially released on Steam and Nintendo Switch!
None of us knew what we were getting into when we decided to turn a little game jam into a fully-fledged 10+ hour game. If we knew how many hats we’d all have to wear, how much time, effort, sacrifice and tears would go into this venture, we might have hesitated.
But I’m so glad that we did it. We’re of course perfectionists, so we can see all the ways TetherGeist could have been better. But ultimately we made something we’re proud of. And we’re so excited for you to play it!
Huge thanks to our partner Jordan, for sticking through it with us through ups and downs, and for all the intense work, sleepless nights, and sacrifices he’s made to bring this game to fruition. We’re so blessed to have been able to find such a versatile and dedicated dev partner.
And we’re eternally grateful to those who stepped in to do the jobs we didn’t have resources for. Thank you to Almost Ready Games Fund for choosing to fund TetherGeist and for all the effort founders Bengin and Harlis put into selecting, coordinating, and communicating with our partners. Thank you to IndiePups for coming in clutch with a tight and effective marketing campaign, and for going above and beyond to help our game get seen. Thanks to Veridian for making our port to Switch as smooth as possible. And thank you to QLoc for great language translation on a surprisingly quick turnaround.
We’ve already had some glowing reviews roll in, with average ratings currently at an 8.7/10. Here are some highlights:
“One of TetherGeist's strengths comes from the writing. It's insightful and charming, teeing up meaningful messages between playful, silly moments. There are giant forest frogs, pineapple-obsessed aliens, and sauna-locked ancient spirits to make you chuckle or smirk, all while your mind ponders why people choose to pity Mae when she's clearly capable all on her own.” - TechRaptor
"Platforming in TetherGeist – in terms of its sheer quality, imaginativeness and variety – is as good as Celeste. A bold claim, I know. But all the key elements in this razor-sharp precision platformer – the movement, the responsive controls, the level design, and the weight and feel of the protagonist – are absolutely top-drawer. Amongst the best I’ve ever experienced.” - So Many Games
And to top it off, our release follows an award-winning run at the Gamescom Latam BIG Festival, where TetherGeist was a finalist for Best Game, Best Impact, Best Art, and Best Sound, and was the winner of the WINGS Award.
If you’re interested in playing TetherGeist, please buy your copy today and leave us a review! It will really help us out. ❤
I just wrapped up writing an afterword for this story, which will be printed in the back of the hardcover edition (out in September), so I won’t rehash my reflections and gratitude here (you can read that later, assuming you buy the HC). What I will say is that it’s been an incredible honor to have had the opportunity to add to the vastly beloved Hellboy Universe. I hope it won’t be the last!
Reception has been good overall, with ratings hovering around a 3.7/5. Here are some of my favorite quotes from reviews:
“This series promises lots of two-fisted double-barrel action and heavy doses of the supernatural. Any fan of Westerns or horror should grab the book up – it’s another gem in the galaxy of Hellboy Universe books.” - AIPT
“The title character is… a seriously rad gunslinger who, from page one of this series, becomes iconic in the well-traveled landscape in which the Hellboy stories take place… The story does a great job of showing — without telling — a lot of the racial tension and bigotry of the time as Carmen is visibly depicted as one of the Indigenous Peoples of America.” - ComicCon.com
And here’s one of my favorite press interviews I did:
Lastly, for fun, here’s a roundup of all the A/B covers for each issue. It makes me feel pretty darn cool to see my work alongside such talent. Thanks again to Mike Mignola, Jake Parker, Tonči Zonjić, and Benjamin Schipper for the beautiful variants!
All four issues are available in comic book stores. But if you want to wait to get the whole story all together, the hardcover edition comes out in September. You can pre-order on Amazon, or anywhere books are sold.

That’s all for now! Thanks for tuning in.
