To win the fight, first you must fight

The firearms community is ablaze with commentary over the recent shooting at an Idaho In-N-Out. If you’re not familiar with the incident, an active shooter at an In-N-Out was engaged by an armed citizen, and then proceeded to do what nearly all active shooters do when they encounter resistance and off himself. It is unquestionable that the actions of the armed citizen saved people’s lives, because we’ve seen time and time again that when active killers are presented with any level of resistance, they fold.

But what has especially lit the internet up are the armed citizen’s choice of defensive tools. He used an FN 57 with a suppressor, and engaged the shooter at some distance. Jordan Salinas is a hero, make no mistake about that. But because the internet is the internet, people are choosing to focus their conversation on the tools he used, instead of the most important thing: the will to fight.
