You don’t multiply your impact by doing more yourself, you multiply it by equipping the people around you to carry it without you. In this episode, I share how to duplicate yourself as a Christian leader, told through my recent mission trip to Honduras where I had to raise up a team of 15 to pray for healing in front of 750 people.
If you’re holding onto control because it feels faster to just do it yourself, this episode will help you raise up your team, let go, and finally build something that doesn’t all run through you.
Episode highlights:
The exact process I use to duplicate myself: teach them, they watch you, you watch them, then you release them
Why the fastest way to cap your impact is to keep doing everything yourself
What my mission trip to Honduras taught me about raising up a team
How two girls, eleven and twelve, went from never praying for healing to doing it in front of 750 people
Why letting go of control is the real work of leadership, not the reward for it
The one thing to hand off this week so your business stops depending on you 🌿
“You have to raise up your team, and you have to let go of control for them to do it.” — Rachel Ngom
I took fifteen people to Honduras, and most of them had never once prayed for healing. On Friday night a man brought his chair right up to the front, crutches in hand, blind in one eye, head down, and he was not leaving until he got healed. Two of the girls on my team, one of them eleven, prayed over him for thirty minutes. I came off the stage to see if they needed help. They didn’t. By the time they finished, he walked out carrying his crutches, and he could see. I barely prayed for anyone that night, because the team was on it.

A quick map of what Rachel walked through, lightly cleaned up from the audio so it reads easy.
It’s a duplication problem, not a doing-more problem. You’re not stuck because you’re not working hard enough. You’re stuck because you’re the only one who can do the thing. The moment you teach someone else to carry it, your capacity stops being one person and starts being a team.
Take inventory before you delegate. Before the trip I surveyed the whole team to see who had prayed for healing, who the intercessors were, who knew deliverance. You can’t hand something off well until you actually know what the people around you are carrying.
Teach it, then get out of the way in stages. I trained them first, then had them watch me, then I watched them, then I let them go. Each stage I stepped back a little further. That gradual release is the whole mechanism, not one big scary handoff.
Stop being the bottleneck. I spent half of the first day praying alone while the team stood and watched me be impressive. That was the mistake. Nothing multiplies while it all routes through one person, and being the one who does it feels good, which is exactly why it’s a trap.
Letting go of control is the whole game. By Friday I sat down and watched an eleven year old pray a man off his crutches. They didn’t need me standing over them, because I’d spent the week making myself less necessary on purpose. That’s what raising people up actually costs, and it’s worth it.

If this one named something you’ve been carrying, the most helpful thing you can do is pass it to the next woman who needs to hear it.
PS: the reason you keep doing it all yourself usually isn’t diligence, and it isn’t excellence. It’s the quiet fear that if you let go, it won’t be done right. Raise them up anyway. That’s the assignment.
The duplication process. Teach them, let them watch you, watch them do it, release them, and then they train the next person.
Words of knowledge. Rachel taught the team how she receives them: sometimes you see it, sometimes you feel it in your own body, sometimes you just know it or dream it. She had her daughter deliver one on stage after feeling knee pain that wasn’t her own.
The five-step healing model. The framework Rachel trained the team on before the trip, so they had the process in hand before the moment they needed it.
“That’s how you really start to duplicate yourself.” — Rachel Ngom
What am I still doing myself only because it’s faster than teaching someone else?
Those are usually the exact tasks capping your growth. Fast today, but they keep everything routed through you.
Where am I holding control because being needed feels good?
Notice where you step in not because they can’t, but because you like being the one who can. That’s where the letting go has to happen.
Who could I start training this week?
Pick one person and one thing. Let them watch you do it once, so next time they can do it without you.
