It isn’t. What we actually want is a resilient, responsive, and balanced immune system: one that knows when to be active, and when to rest. An immune system that’s under-active makes us vulnerable to infection; one that’s chronically overactive can result in allergic responses, skin issues and, chronically, auto-immune conditions.
Rather than reaching for supplements that “boost,” I prefer to support a healthy immune system, naturally: food, herbs, sleep, gut health, movement, warmth, stress regulation, and a few of my favorite herbs.
Below are the ingredients and practices I rely on for prevention, acute illness treatment, and for staying well year-round.

It’s helpful to think about the immune system, and most systems in the body, as something that we want to be balanced, rather than boosted. An overactive immune system is actually problematic (e.g. auto-immune diseases). That said, we can support a strong and balanced immune system with food, herbs, lifestyle and mindset.
