3 Days Post ESI

I got my first ESI on Tuesday for a disc protrusion contacting my S1 nerve root that caused tingling/weakness in my left leg and sore lower back. I felt okay the first 48 hours but then I started to have tingling on my right leg and arm. Then today I woke up with overall body/face tingling and almost an out of body feeling. No fever or swelling at the injection area. Has this happened to anyone?…

Well... Microdiscectomy is scheduled for Oct 8th...any advice or feedback for those that have gone through it would be greatly appreciated

Last year I had a Bulging disc around November, had 2 hospital trips and posted about it. Did conservative care, physical therapy, and thought I was good. Back and sciatica pain flared up 2 weeks ago and it felt worse. Got an MRI and now here we are. The doctor suggested a microdiscectomy for the herniation. submitted by /u/Ochocincoondeck [link] [comments]

clenching my butt

I just witness that I may have the habit to clenching my butt when I stand up and not walking. Just wondering if this may be part of my sciatica problems! submitted by /u/Aubepineduveteuse [link] [comments]

Has anyone ever taken big doses of gabapentin?

I hopefully will be having surgery on Wed (Cigna hasn’t approved yet), so I had to stop taking NSAIDs. Tylenol isn’t cutting it but surgeon only suggested baclofen and gabapentin (which generally doesn’t work for me). I am desperate though so I took 3 gabapentin, a 10mg baclofen and 2 Tylenol. But then I looked at my gabapentin (I don’t use it because it doesn’t work) and I was supposed to take…

Is swimming a short term relief or long term?

I’ve heard lots of different stories. I know that not everyone is the same and some people, swimming can make worse. I have herniated L4, L5 and S1 discs. I’m going to give swimming a shot but for the people it has helped, did it just give you a temporary relief (like a pain killer) or did it actually build you up to recovery long term? submitted by /u/Savings_Cow9032 [link] [comments]

Is an ESI worth the risks?

I finally got an appointment with a pain clinic and they are recommending an Epidural Steroid Injection between my L5-S1 area in 4-6 weeks. I have severe pain limiting my life everyday, but I’m really nervous about the potentially serious or fatal consequences, like stroke, paralysis, or cataracts/blindness. It seems like a huge risk to take for something that very well may not even work at all.…

Did you have an orthopedic surgeon or neurosurgeon do your disc surgery?

I am contemplating having L4/L5 surgery for a pinch nerve due to bone spurs. I have been treated by my orthopedic group, but my PC suggested that the actual surgery should be done by a neurosurgeon. Please share which surgeon did your surgery, and if you are pleased with the results submitted by /u/Feeling-Friendship82 [link] [comments]

4 days post ESI. Pain is worse.

I am 4 days post my ESI for my L5-S1 herniation. No back pain but the sciatica has been horrible. I’m starting to loose hope that this is going to work. Please share your experiences! submitted by /u/jmweg [link] [comments]
