How are you dealing with “organizational drift?”

Mild rant, but I think it’s valid. Title pretty much says it all. Organizational drift - it’s a real thing. You look around on base and it’s everywhere. And more disappointingly, it is occurring across all ranks. Now I’m not saying that I’m the most squared away Sailor by any means. I’m not a total robot. However, I do find it rather “annoying” that I am seeing a lot of (just to name a few that…

DTS Delays/per diem

So I’m currently sitting in the airport and my flight was supposed to leave at 3pm. After multiple delays I’m now expected to leave at 9pm. Biggest question is: since I’m still on a TDY status, do I still get my full per diem? Typically since I’m leaving today, I only get a part of the per diem vs a regular working day where I’d usually get the full. I’m a civ, so not too sure how different the…

Here's why BBA is bad

Tl;dr - the worst Sailor possible will get the billet over the best Sailor possible, so long as they have 9 more months of sea time. I'll start by saying I don't KNOW this is all accurate, and I hope I'm misunderstanding something about the new system. Reading the guidance (PERS-4 ltr 1000 of 5 Feb 26) here's how it looks like the points break down. Max weighed score per category: Rating - 5 Pay…

Missing something?

I retired after 21 years as a Chief. I lived overseas and did a lot of deployments. I was a Chief for about 8 years. I see all these Chief stickers, and shirts “backbone of the navy”, “ask the Chief “ etc. I don’t care about any of that. I think it’s dumb. Am I missing something? I know someone is gonna say I’m an E7 not a chief, I did 21 years in the hole and rotating shift for my entire career…

E-5 exam during pcs

I’m currently on leave waiting to pcs to Japan, my original arrival date would’ve been the 7th which is 3 days before the exam but my flight has been changed to the 17th. Is there anything I can possibly do to take the exam? For context November will be my fourth year, I’ve been undes for the past 3 years an E-3 for 2 of them. I just finished C school and honestly I do not want to wait until march…

Shore Special Program Question

If I successfully screen for a shore special program out of my current rate, and don’t end up selecting orders for that program, do I become Needs of the Navy after all cycles are exhausted on MNA? will I need to go back to my rating detailer? submitted by /u/Ok-Ear8834 [link] [comments]
