Should we replace weather API rainfall with a tipping bucket rain gauge?

I’m working on a flood monitoring using a Decision Tree to predict flood status one hour ahead. We currently use Open-Meteo for rainfall data, but we are thinking of changing to a local tipping bucket rain gauge installed at the monitoring site. For this setup, would a local tipping bucket give better rainfall data than a weather API or a weather station several kilometers away? Would switching…
