2018 i30, 190k, upgrade advice

I bought my Hyundai i30 a couple of years ago, after trading in my Kia Sportage (divorce, single income made it hard to maintain the $650 per month repayments, etc) + finance. I paid out my finance last year after the former marital home sold and I got my % of proceeds. Since purchasing the i30 in December 2023, I have loaded the k’s on it - it was 103k when purchased and it now has almost 190k on…

Mechanic question

Why do mechanics require you to leave your car in the shop for several hours? I just had pink slip done via a mobile mechanic for the first time. It was more expensive but all done around 30mins. Usually I have to leave the car for about 3 hours. submitted by /u/crazyfroggy99 [link] [comments]

Hey everyone, hoping to get a bit of advice about EV batteries.

I’m still fairly new to EV ownership and trying to understand what’s considered normal when it comes to battery health and range over time. I’ve noticed the estimated range can move around quite a bit depending on driving and weather, which I know is normal, but I’m not really sure at what point battery degradation becomes something worth worrying about. For those who’ve owned an EV in Australia…

Washer mod chances of getting done NSW

Did a washer mod on my car. On my green Ps. V6 Aurion and it sounds fairly tasteful. Unbolted it right before the two mufflers and shoved 2 washers in. Louder than stock only due to deeper bass and a bit more rumble. Far from offensive as I've been told by people I've shown it to. What are the chances of getting done by cops? It definitely has a deeper rumble during idle. If I get pulled over for…

Got my BMW back from the repairer a couple of days ago and today received advice from RACV they've settled the insurance claim and case closed. Today I noticed the VIN sticker was missing from the side pillar and called the repairer. Told me a replacement has been ordered from Germany and to come in on Thursday to get it installed. Should I respond to RACV's email with this info and ask for the…

Hi all I’m looking to buy a used car under 15k that I’m planning to drive for atleast 10 -15yrs . I asked Gemini and it gave the usual 3 options - Corolla , Mazda , i30. I was wondering if anyone could give me a quick checklist of non negotiables and if I should buy one from Facebook (more options, newer models) or from a dealership ? I’m not a car person so would really appreciate any tips? I’ll…

Nissan X Trail 2016 165k - mileage too high or can still be a good purchase?

G’day! I just found a Nisan X Trail, full service history, priced at around 10k, but I am just not sure about whether the mileage is too high for it or if I can still use it for a few years, provided that I will service it regularly, which I would. I heard a lot of stories about the CVTs in Nissans, so I am in doubt. My other alternative is a Juke, which seats just above 100k in mileage and around…

Advice on buying first car

I have found a ford focus 2014 with a 200,000 km mileage selling for $1200. Seller says it’s in good condition. Has replaced all tires, comes with rwc and 3 months rego. Sounds extremely cheap. This is the first time I am buying a car so no experience just wanted something that I can go around town with. I am a uni student and work part time so I won’t be driving much sometimes would just drive…
