Josh Babetski · quixado's quixotic thoughts and ramblings

I met with someone last week who is a artist by trade, but is working through launching their own thing - a physical product. There were multiple designs and configurations, but uncertainty about which one or two to go to market with first. So I suggested a few ways and a few resources to economically do some qualitative research with the ideal customer profiles – which should provide some data to help make a more informed decision.

I know a good chunk of this audience (since I’m connected with some amazing researchers) might be “no duh!” over this topic, but it still astonishes me just how often I see teams and firms not doing any type of mixed-method research. Some, just because it’s not part of their background, but they’re open to learning how to approach it. Others, they’re just burning their own – or worse, their client’s – time and money based on what a designer thought “looked cool” on their Pinterest board or developing a go-to-market strategy based on “something that worked once”, re-processed through an AI chat word salad.

No hypothesis survives contact from talking to actual people with actual experience.

So, guess where I’m going with this…

We’re looking for some people to talk to about a project we’re working on. (If you already know what I’m talking about: Shhhhh - SPOILERS!)

If you’re in the ballpark of any of these personas and can give us 45-minutes of your time to hop on a video chat, we’d be ever so grateful.

  • Senior marketing leaders responsible for brand strategy, media budgets, and/or experimentation with new formats.

  • Media buyers or agency strategists responsible for allocating spend across media channels.

  • Publisher or platform revenue leaders responsible for monetizing media and content (Head of Sales, Head of Brand Partnerships, Experiential Sales Leaders or CROs).

Reach out via DMs or drop a good ol’ email.

Let’s talk!

  • Screen:The Blink of an Eye” (Disney+). A small, but interesting film on time and the need for people from Pixar’s Andrew Stanton. Not every movie needs to be big and it’s good to see creators getting room to try new things.

  • Music:a thousand years” Christina Perri. “I will be grape.” IYKYK.

  • Purchase: R2 (Rivian) - Well, not yet, but the EV we reserved almost 750 days ago got one step closer to sitting in our garage. Pricing and configurations were released, as well as being all over SXSW here in Austin with great activations and the vehicles. Everything so far looks to have exceeded expectations.
