Before I show you a few pieces of the treasure trove left to us by Ottis A Moore you have to let me have at least a sentence about current events. Iran? What’s going on there? President Donald J. Trump traveled to France where, at Versailles, he signed an agreement giving Iran everything it ever wanted and more. Does that mean the war is really over and that world commerce can balance itself again? Maybe, maybe not.
On to the main event: Ottis Alden Moore, 1874-1920 was an Indiana farm boy born and raised in rural Tippecanoe County near Montmorenci. After marriage he spent the rest of his life in Parke County. What at first glance seems like an ordinary life was anything but ordinary. He left us an extrordinary visual history of the last decade of the 19th Century and early 20th Century. Capturing both family faces and others. Locations were everywhere from Tippecanoe County to Parke County Indiana. Both rural and urban scenes.
There are many more I could choose from but here are 6 that I like.
I failed to mention that all of these images were preserved on glass plate negatives most of which were on 8x10 plates.
