On the occasion of Luke’s son’s birthday, the conversation turns toward fatherhood and the ancient tradition of passing stories down from one generation to the next. They explore the power of the bedtime story as more than entertainment as Luke shares the experience of recently telling the story of his novel Fire in the Tall Grass to his son as a bedtime adventure, and what it means to see a story take on a new life through the imagination of a child.
The conversation then shifts to modern adventure cinema: where the genre is headed, what works, and what doesn’t. They discuss the mixed reception of The Odyssey, the promise of Young Washington as a fresh take on historical adventure, and the film they’re very excited to see… I Play Rocky.
