A 17-year-old driver had his licence suspended and vehicle impounded after Bromont police say he was caught travelling at 174 km/h in a 90 km/h zone on Route 139.
According to Bromont police officer Marc-André Jean-Fontaine, officers were conducting speed enforcement on Route 139 at around 3 a.m. when they detected the vehicle travelling 84 km/h over the posted limit.
Police stopped the vehicle and suspended the teenager’s driver’s licence for seven days. The vehicle was also impounded.
The driver received a $961 ticket and 18 demerit points, Jean-Fontaine said.
Police also noticed another violation during the traffic stop.
According to Jean-Fontaine, a passenger was lying down and asleep on the back seat without wearing a seat belt.
No injuries were reported in the information provided by Bromont police.
