Dear Arkansas Psychedelic Community,
As we step into June, our local calendar is bursting with opportunities to connect, learn, and grow together. From mushroom cultivation in Eureka Springs to integration circles in Fayetteville and Bella Vista, the energy in our state is palpable.
But as we look at what’s happening right here in Arkansas, it is impossible to ignore the massive shifts happening on the national stage—and how they ripple down to us locally.
Lately, a lot of folks in our community have been talking about the Executive Order signed by President Trump on April 18th, which specifically called for increased research into ibogaine. We are already seeing the concrete results of this national momentum.
Just recently, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced a major new clinical trial studying MDMA-assisted therapy for veterans struggling with PTSD and alcohol use disorder. VA Secretary Doug Collins also confirmed in a Senate hearing that, following the President’s executive order, ibogaine is officially slated to be the department’s “next big one” for research.
Last month, much closer to home, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt officially signed House Bill 3834 into law, enacting the Oklahoma Breakthrough Therapy Act.
This bipartisan law authorizes the Oklahoma State Department of Health to fund and support multi-state clinical trials to seek FDA approval for ibogaine—a powerful, naturally occurring psychedelic compound showing incredible promise in treating severe opioid use disorder, traumatic brain injuries, and PTSD.
Because federal and regional movement changes local conversations. It legitimizes these therapies, chips away at long-standing stigma, and paves the way for future access right here in Arkansas. In fact, efforts are underway to introduce a Psilocybin Pilot Program bill in the Arkansas legislature as early as spring 2027.
This bill is being championed by Natural State Mental Health, a 501(c)(4) organization dedicated to advancing legislation to make therapeutic access to psychedelic plants and compounds a reality in the state of Arkansas.
Guided by a commitment to establish a safe, medically supervised framework for psychedelic-assisted therapy, a future bill would aim to create an in-state avenue for Arkansans to access the profound benefits of psilocybin for severe depression, PTSD, and substance use disorders.
Whether you are a healthcare practitioner, a care-seeker who has been impacted by these medicines (or wants access to them), or an advocate for mental health reform, your voice matters. With the national landscape shifting so rapidly, education and regional collaboration have never been more critical. That is why this month we want to strongly encourage our Arkansas community to make the trip across the border for the Open Plains Psychedelic Symposium in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 26th and 27th.
Presented by our neighbors at the Oklahoma Psychedelic Collective, this symposium is going to be an incredibly educational and fantastic opportunity.

Have you noticed that a lot of our Northwest Arkansas events have been happening up north, with less happening in Springdale or Fayetteville lately? Well, we’ve noticed too! The simple reason is that our state board is currently clustered in the northern part of the region. We realize Fayetteville needs its own dedicated chapter, and we are officially looking for passionate community leaders to step up and make it happen.
We are seeking reliable, driven individuals who can commit to organizing just one event or integration circle per month to gather all the brilliant psychonauts we know Fayetteville is crawling with. This role is a fantastic opportunity for grassroots community building and could include outreach to students and psychology departments at the University of Arkansas. If you have a heart for connection, advocacy, and bringing people together safely, we need you.
