A Peek Inside Google’s Black Box Info-Data Hoard - 5/13/25

Now there are two similar reinforcing DOJ v. Google Federal court rulings that Google is an unlawful monopoly that is unlawfully maintaining it, that are both in remedy phase.

Like Federal Judge Amit Mehta ruled in August of 2024 that Google was a monopoly in search and text ads, in April of 2025, Federal Judge Leonie Brinkema ruled that Google was found liable for:

1. Monopolization of the publisher ad server market, and

2. Monopolization of the ad exchange market.

The most relevant and pertinent here is that Judge Mehta is likely to require that Google share information and data with competitors to restore competition.

Given that both cases address the same exclusive monopolization unlawful practices and the same four remedy objectives:

1. Unfetter a market from anticompetitive conduct,

2. Terminate the illegal monopoly,

3. Deny the defendant the fruits of its statutory violation, and

4. Ensure that there remain no practices likely to result in monopolization in the future.

With this joint interest, focus, and remedy strategy of twin monopoly cases against Google, it is time to share, help you visualize, and get a much better idea of what info-data could fuel competitors, startups, entrepreneurs, businesses, and investors to learn about, and become more familiar with what types and kinds of information, data, and metadata that Google could be required to share with competitors for no or marginal cost.
