Provenance Watches · Provenance Watches

A healthy mix of pieces this week, and specifically some stunning Campanolas. Keep an eye out for the MOP case near the bottom of the newsletter. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind piece.

For those of you completely unfamiliar with how to buy watches directly from Japanese auctions, please consult ourHow To” Guide for buying in Japan.

Unique Look · Ends Sunday, 23 August

The Description. Released in 2004 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the first Japanese chronograph, which in turn was produced for Japan’s 1964 Olympics.

The Condition. It looks to be in good condition, but there are various marks across the metal. The most important positive is that it was just serviced by Seiko - a vital prerequisite when buying any 9T82 Kinetic. It comes with a Kinetic box that doesn’t belong to this watch, but it does belong to this general era of Kinetics.

The Functionality. In working order.

Serviced June 2026, so it will have a manufacturer’s warranty until June 2027.

Textured Dial · No End Date

The Description. A 38mm ultra-thin HAQ, with a textured treasure knot (宝結び紋) dial. Various treasure knot styles were used as family crests in Japan - but as I understand it, this specific style was a generic knot said to have been used by dozens of family names and said to bring good fortune.

The Condition. Described as having small visible marks, but the photos don’t allow us to see many. I suspect it’s the seller being overcautious. Other than a couple of marks on the sides of the case, it looks to be in very good condition.

The Functionality. In working order.

It comes with a one year warranty from the seller (a large specialist vendor in Japan). Obviously the warranty won’t be easily claimable unless you’re in Japan, but it’s a decent vouch for the watch’s functionality.

Stunning Palette · No End Date
