As AI becomes part of everyday work, one question is becoming increasingly important:
Are you actually using AI well?
Claude Reflection is what happens when your AI assistant stops helping and starts staging an intervention.
➜ Is Claude really having a “we need to talk” moment? lol
It turns out the question is a good one, here’s why:
To help users better understand their own AI habits, Anthropic has introduced Reflection, a new beta feature for Claude that analyzes your usage patterns, highlights your workflows, and encourages healthier, more intentional AI use.
Instead of just tracking activity, Reflection is designed to help us become more thoughtful AI collaborators.
Reflection is a personal dashboard that summarizes how you’ve been using Claude over time.
Instead of digging through hundreds of conversations, Claude identifies patterns across your work, including the topics you discuss most often, when you tend to use AI, and the types of tasks you regularly delegate.
You can review your activity across the previous 1, 3, 6, or 12 months to better understand how AI fits into your workflow.
The goal isn’t productivity metrics, it’s awareness.
Your dashboard gives you an overview of your relationship with Claude, including:
▪️ The topics you spend the most time discussing
▪️ When you usually use Claude during the day
▪️ Common categories of work you collaborate on
▪️ Trends across your conversations over time
Anthropic also plans to add time-spent metrics in a future update, so people can get a better understanding of how much of their day is being spent working with AI.
One of the more interesting aspects of the feature is that it periodically asks thoughtful questions designed to encourage intentional AI use.
For example:
“What’s one thing you want to keep doing yourself, even if Claude could do it faster?”
Instead of optimizing for maximum automation, Anthropic is encouraging users to think about where human creativity, judgment, and personal growth still matter.
The dashboard also lets users set:
▪️ Quiet hours
▪️ Break reminders
▪️ Gentle nudges after extended usage
These are optional reminders that can be dismissed at any time, giving users more control over how AI fits into their day. No need for AI vampires, Claude is saying.
Reflection also introduces users to Anthropic’s 4D AI Fluency Framework, which evaluates how you collaborate with AI across four core skills.
Delegation
Knowing when AI should help, and when it shouldn’t.
Description
Clearly communicating goals so Claude can produce better results.
Discernment
Evaluating AI outputs critically instead of accepting everything at face value.
Diligence
Taking responsibility for how AI is used and ensuring the final work remains thoughtful, accurate, and aligned with your intent.
Based on your conversations, Claude gives you observations about your working style.
For example, it might recognize that you frequently rewrite email drafts in your own voice or that you prefer to develop strategy yourself before asking Claude to execute supporting work.
It also offers practical suggestions, such as using Projects to maintain long-running context instead of repeatedly re-explaining the same information.
Anthropic says Reflection was designed with privacy in mind.
The dashboard does not include:
▪️ Incognito chats
▪️ Source files from connected integrations
▪️ Conversations tied to health integrations
If Claude summarizes content from another connected service, only the summary (not the original underlying information) is eligible to appear in your reflection.
Anthropic also states that your Reflection data remains private and isn’t repurposed for other uses.
Because some conversations naturally involve sensitive topics, Anthropic worked alongside researchers and digital wellbeing experts from organizations including MIT Media Lab’s Advancing Humans with AI (AHA) program, Boston Children’s Hospital’s Digital Wellness Lab, and the Family Online Safety Institute while developing the feature.
Reflection is currently available in beta for:
▪️ Free users
▪️ Pro subscribers
▪️ Max subscribers
Memory must be enabled to generate a report, and the feature is currently available through Claude on the web and desktop applications.
Support for Cowork conversations is expected in a future update.
Most AI companies focus on making their models faster, smarter, or more capable.
Anthropic is taking a different approach.
Reflection recognizes that becoming proficient with AI isn’t simply about prompting better, it’s about building better habits.
As AI becomes embedded into our daily work, the people who benefit the most won’t necessarily be those who use it the most.
They’ll be the ones who know when to delegate, when to think independently, and how to collaborate with AI intentionally.
That’s exactly the skill Reflection is designed to help build.
Claude Reflection is a new beta dashboard from Anthropic that analyzes how you use Claude over time. It summarizes your most common topics, usage patterns, recurring tasks, and collaboration habits, while also offering insights and suggestions to help you become a more intentional AI user.
Yes. Anthropic says Reflection does not include Incognito chats, underlying files from connected services, or conversations tied to health integrations. If you use Claude to summarize external content, only the summary—not the original source material—may appear in your dashboard. Anthropic also states that your Reflection insights are not used for other purposes.
Reflection is currently available in beta for Claude Free, Pro, and Max users who have Memory enabled. You can access it by opening Settings in Claude on the web or desktop application and selecting the Reflection option. Anthropic has also announced that support for Cowork conversations is coming in a future update.
