If you’re new to The Môrdreigiau Chronicles, welcome! You might find the Glossary helpful for some of these words. Colons indicate the sea dragon’s thought communications.
Previously, Geraint rushed off to rescue Queen Heledd and her friends. Llallogan went in pursuit and had an awkward flashback on the palace’s parapets.

Llallogan managed to intercept Geraint before he left with half the caer in tow. :You can’t leave without a plan!:
:Do you have one?: Geraint snapped back.
:The Lady…: Llallogan hesitated.
:What has She done, Llally?: Geraint rubbed at his hairline where his Sword mark glowed blue. :Since She marked us? Nothing! We can’t wait for Our Lady to drop you the solution.:
Llallogan grabbed his arm. :Then listen to what I do know.: He shared the entire contents of his dream, unedited, ending with the Lady’s reminder to the bards to sing of sea stars to future generations.
:Oh!: piped up Heulwen, a young bard. :I just learned one of those old songs we’re meant to repeat. It’s been much embellished over the years.: She cleared her voice, draping her arm across her orchid-coloured robe in a practiced sweep.
She sang an entire song about a young draig môr seeking a lost love, finding him trapped. The song ended oddly with:
:The tower will fall / When with red flowers they call.:
:Red flowers? Would that be sea stars? They’re not usually red.: Geraint turned to Llallogan.
Why did they always expect him to have the answers? He shrugged. :The goddess had an orangey-red one stuck to her gown.:
:Where would we find such a thing? Beynon?: Geraint turned to the Master Botanist.
His long face gave the answer before he even thought it. :Maybe it’s any kind of red flowers?:
Geraint nodded, his lips thinning. :We gather all the red flowers we find on the way to the giant kelp forest. Let’s go! We’ve wasted enough time already.:
Llallogan rested a hand on Geraint’s shoulder. :I’m coming with you.:
Exchanging grim expressions, the two dreigiau môr led the others out of the caer’s main gate.
This is a response to the Smogust Story Hoard writing challenge by Bradley Ramsey and The Circus Dragon for the month of August. And yes, as it often happens with these month long challenges (often being precisely once before), it’s a serial.
