Profile Jumper! · Profile’s Substack

There should be a tag line, which people should remember. So far I’ve come up with “Jump easily between your profiles!”. There needs to be consistency so I’ve updated all social media with this line.

One needs to give information to where people like to find it, so here’s what I’ve decided to post where:

  • Substack - Sunday updates, everything I plan to work on and everything that has been done. Might sound strange but I’ve discovered a nice “Sunday Task Track Hack” which I can define a list of headings and then when its completed, give an update.

  • WordPress - Would like to only inform about the app abilities, Changes or features only about the App itself. Could even go as per the various use cases people have not thought about.

  • Medium - One could argue all the other mediums cover this, but I would like to discuss some of my thoughts and reasons on why something has been done or decisions. This should also be for processes too, essentially public thoughts on why.

  • X - Short posts that engage and link to information with a wider community on various topics

  • YouTube - Various videos explaining how to use Profile Jumper! Ranges to explaining features, how to install (or even uninstall) and perform actions. It just helps to make the effort upfront, so that if anyone needs to know how to do anything, it’s there. Anyone can watch and rewind at their own speed.

  • Instagram - Not sure yet, but could be useful show benefits of using Profile Jumper!

I’m still learning about Substack - personally I really like the process of writing a list of headings, then doing what needs to be done and writing about it. I would like to look back on what has been done, but also to let others know.

Then there is the network side of things, where people can “recommend” each other. This is an interesting idea because in a 3 second world, where there world’s content seems AI generated, there’s no doubt that we will crave authenticity. This is fresh because people can find, support and connect with real people.

Regarding this community/network this still needs further exploration, not only to promote my ideas but also to support others ideas as well. Wouldn’t it be superb to be part of an interesting network, where people are creating, sharing ideas and building? Of course it would be fantastic, and I want to do this in a proper, respectful way.

There are a few videos, but not as in-depth with looking into the network side of things. I found the great video (it’s more than 2 hours long) but is a great walk through. Certainly everyone would like to grow their “audience” - but if you park that idea and look at the opportunities of the network, that’s more interesting because all creators in a network raise each other.

I started this project because I wanted to solve my own problem. I’ve done this for the love of wanting to find a solution and not thinking about money.

Although marketing and promotion are facilitating fields - but I don’t know much either!

And as, I don’t want to charge money for this - keep it free, this is a great opportunity to learn a new skill because I get to experiment with marketing & promoting and people get an app for free! Win/Win (and have my own problem solved as well).

Win/Win/Win or Win x 3 - what sounds better?

So, here’s the current website, which I will improve this over time. But it needs to be shredded and ripped apart because it’s not about me or this software - but what problem it solves for people. How someone can benefit, communicated in an effective way.

As this is an update, I’ll spare the longer decisions on another platform (I’m still deciding where to post what). Essentially the website compares features, what you currently have and what it does differently for you. But people do not “buy” features.

I really like the way Rory Sutherland thinks. Not from the literal “buying” point, but more importantly; giving people what they really want. And this superb thinking is great - BUT trying to communicate this, seems NOT so simple…

Therefore, I’m rethinking the approach, not quite sure but will need to experiment. I’m thinking something along the lines of “productivity” really saving time as well as taking cognitive load off - so you could recycle these cycles somewhere to be used more beneficial.

Think about it - Every day you type in a website or hunt for it in some bookmark somewhere. Sometimes you know it, sometimes you Google it, but you still have to take seconds out of your day - each and every time you do this. Notwithstanding the micro context switching cost (few more seconds each time), you could be more productive! - Well, that’s my thinking.

Discussion with Rory is insightful (watch x2 speed to save time).

I will not make changes today because I’m thinking how best to communicate. However, anyone can see the website changes over time, this could be seen in GitHub or WayBack Machine (it’s great this is captured).

Every project needs a cause, so thinking about what it is in essence that Profile Jumper! needs to anchor itself to - what is the deep underlying cause. I’ve published my thoughts around why Profile Jumper! should be private, simple and efficient are published for anyone to see.

Everyone knows about that darn tree that everyone knows all about, but asked if they heard it fall? However, where ever it fell - people still need to hear it! So in learning where is best to provide information, one needs to be there to let people know.

Today, I registered on these additional platforms Medium, TikTok and Pinterest because one needs to go where people are and each groups are different.
