There are endless paint colors in the world, and yet I keep finding myself coming back to the same ones and over and over again.
Not because I dislike discovering new ones (I do! and I’ll spend months doing it) but because certain colors feel like old reliable bffs. The kind I’ve already spent a lot of time with, watched through different light, and paired with different fabrics and furniture. The kind that just work without overthinking.
Depending on what you layer with them, they somehow feel fresh every time. So today, I’m sharing a few things:
My most re-used, never-gets-old paint colors
A short list of supplies that I keep on hand whenever I’m in the beginning stages of repainting a room.

I always start with this paint deck, whether I end up using F&B or a different brand. This is my process in a nutshell: start with the paint deck at home, use Samplize to order even larger swatches, and research by brand on Match My Paint Color. Quality-wise, I love Farrow and Ball; however, we do not live near a store location so I either need to order online and patiently wait or find a similar color in another brand by using the Match My Paint Color site. Sometimes my impatience gets the best of me but ultimately this is my process. The Samplize swatches will arrive a couple days later and I’ll hang them on the wall until I feel ready to commit.
French Gray
This is my all-time favorite paint color. I’ve used it on a wardrobe system, in a kitchen, on a dresser. It just works in so many areas and it’ll never get old to me!
Treron
This is a green that feels timeless. I’ve used on shelves and in a small kitchen. If you’re wanting a mid-tone green, this is a good one to test out! Old White is also shown below on the cabinets.
Slipper Satin
My go-to white that still feels warm. My sunroom looks nothing like this anymore but I had painted Slipper Satin on these walls in the photo below…

Like I mentioned before, I cannot tell you how many times I reach for this paint deck. It’s well-curated without being overwhelming, and it’s such a great place to start when you don’t know where to start. Even if you don’t end up using the brand, you can research similar colors and it gives you a good idea without having to run to the hardware store immediately. I also LOVE this brush kit… it’ll make painting a lot quicker.
Once I select the general color I like, I’ll order larger swatches on Samplize. They arrive quickly, give you even more suggestions based on what you’ve already added to your cart, and I love being able to stick a big swatch on the wall, live with it for a few days (or months) to see how it shifts throughout different hours/lighting.
