Facebook Marketplace is one of the best places to find things to buy locally. It’s completely replaced Craigslist for me. I’ve even found things I’ve never even come across on Ebay.
The platform itself is not perfect. There’s plenty of memes about people being ghosted, which has happened to me while trying to sell, and vice versa while trying to buy. There’s also the whole deal about it being owned by Meta, which is a topic for another day.
Some of my finds include a pair of Red Wing Pecos, a Filson Large Duffle Bag, a vintage Polo Country Denim Jacket, and more.
I lucked out again this week and picked up a pair of the Buzz Rickson 1942 Early Military Wide Leg Chinos.
I bought them off a former Self Edge employee, who had a bunch of other stuff for sale, including a couple of pairs of 1947 Sugar Cane jeans in both Indigo and Ecru. I tried on the indigo pair, but they were hemmed a bit too short, so I only bought the chinos.
The chinos are made in Japan, of 100% Buzz Rickson chino cloth fabric, and have a high-rise, wide-leg fit combination that I’ve been desperately searching for.
I washed them and threw them in the dryer to see if they shrunk at all. The inseam length shrank a fair amount, but otherwise, they fit perfectly. I’ve been cuffing them twice while I determine the right length to get them hemmed eventually.
I’ve been wearing them every day since washing them, and they feel like they’re breaking in with each wear. I’m excited to style these, although I’m realizing I need a slightly thicker belt to pair with them (more details on the one I’m considering are in a later section below).
If you want this exact pair, you can buy them at Self Edge in San Francisco or through their online shop. Or, if you’re lucky, you might be able to snag them off Facebook Marketplace like I did.

The Business of Fashion had Chris Green as a guest on their podcast last week. If you don’t know him by name, he’s the owner of Ven. Space—one of the best men’s multi-brand retail shops I’ve ever been in.
I’ve visited the shop twice now—my first visit was quick and the second was more extensive. I wasn’t able to chat with Chris either time, but I’d sure love the chance to.
He reiterated everything he covered on his episode of the Blamo! podcast—hosted by Jeremy Kirkland—and more.
I love when people like Chris are entirely true to themselves and tell the same stories without deviating much. It was a great refresher about all of the things I learned about him before, as well as what’s on his mind right now.
From what I gathered, he’s still not interested in an online storefront.
I admire his commitment to only doing physical retail rather than digital.
One question that caused me to perk up was around growth and how Chris is thinking about what that means for his small business. It was hinted that he may be looking at opening another storefront.
Last week, shortly after the BoF pod dropped, Ven. Archive was announced, which is a “two-floor standalone space” located a few blocks away from Ven. Space. It’s for shopping “past season collections, one-off samples, and market references.”
I’d love to stop by and see it in person soon. It looks beautiful. And it’s a very different vibe and interior design compared to the original space.
Let me know if you’ve checked out either space or plan to in the future! And give the podcast episode a listen if you’d like to learn more.

I’ve been taking a hard look at my closet lately, and last week I cleared out everything I haven’t been wearing and no longer need.
These cycles tend to take place every six months for me, but sometimes, they happen even more frequently. I think this happens because the weather is either hot or cold here in the Bay Area, averaging high 40 degrees in the colder months and high 70 degrees in the warmer months.
There’s also the influence of social media and all of the trends I see. I’m always curious about learning more, trying new things, and moving on when they aren’t working.
And, as an avid thrifter, I’m aware of what people are looking for based on those trends I see, even if they’re not a fit for my personal style and body type. Because of that, I’ve collected a small amount of things that now need a new home.
If you’re interested in anything below, send me an email or a DM on Instagram.
I’ll be listing everything on Ebay over the next few weeks. I’ll share the direct links to each item via a Substack thread once everything is listed.

After clearing out my closet and re-organizing my wardrobe, I realized that I’ve been missing some basic necessities for looking “presentable.”
Here’s a quick rundown of the essential items I need to add ASAP:
Philips Norelco OneBlade 360
I completely forgot to buy shaving cream after buying some disposable razors, which led me down a rabbit hole into figuring out how to shave daily without all of the fuss of lathering up and tossing razors after a single use. This is the #1 recommended electric shaver out there.Double RL Hand-Burnished Leather Belt
They say accessories are really what bring an entire outfit together, and I’ve been relying on my belt from Rubato to do all of the heavy lifting of keeping my new high-rise chinos from Buzz Rickson above my waist. I need something a bit thicker (1.25") that can go with any of my black penny loafers.CDLP Boxer Brief Long
I’m still struggling to find a good pair of boxer briefs at a decent price point. I’ve worn Hanes all of my life, so it feels weird to try anything else. I want to stock up on a bunch of pairs that are the same color, comfortable, good quality, and have long inseams that won’t bunch up while sitting for many hours throughout the day. These ones look solid, although the price point is fairly high.Apple Watch Ultra 3
I’ve been against the idea of having a screen on my wrist, but I like the idea of not needing the screen in my pocket. More and more I’ve been leaving my phone in a different room, a bag, or at home altogether. I’d still like some sort of emergency contact method in case I’m out and about with my son. I figure I can turn off all notifications and keep this in my pocket instead of my giant phone.Imogene + Willie Catherine Sedona Jeans
I haven’t stopped thinking about these since my friend Pravin recommended them last month. And I need another pair of washed jeans. I have too many looks I haven’t been able to pull off entirely because I’m lacking a high-rise, wide-legged wash jean option in my repertoire. These ones have been on my mind the most.American Trench Oxford Sock
In addition to underwear, I need some new pairs of socks, and I can’t wait until Christmas. I prefer cotton socks, so the fabric composition on these is ideal. I want a pair of Navy, Black, Grey Heather, and Bone. I’ve never bought anything from the brand, but I’ve heard great things.

I watched Spider-Man: Brand New Day last week, and it was excellent. No spoilers below, I promise. If you want to chat about the movie specifically, reply to this email.
So, I’m sure my fellow Spidey-fans already know this: Tom Holland performs some of his own stunts, which means he’s in tip-top shape each time he stars as our favorite web-slinger.
At last year’s BERO Padel Classic event, hosted by Tom Holland (BERO is his non-alcoholic beer brand), Men’s Health UK asked him:
“What’s your go-to workout when you’re short on time?”
He does a 20-minute CrossFit workout called “Cindy,” which consists of three exercises:
5 pull-ups
10 push-ups
15 bodyweight squats
He does one round every minute on the minute (EMOM), so 20 rounds in total.
On days when he’s feeling great, he’ll attempt to do as many as he can. His personal record is 27.
His answer went viral over the past couple of weeks. I’ve seen countless videos this week of people recording themselves running through the workout routine while trying to beat Tom Holland’s record. Most of them are gassed at the end of the timer.
I didn’t have time to try it this weekend (funny, I know, since the workout is meant for when you don’t have time).
I don’t know if it would be weird or not to record myself running through it and posting on social media. I want to try it, but it looks intense! I have a feeling I wouldn’t make it past a few rounds.

P.S. My favorite fish—the “Wagyu of the Sea.” P.P.S. Disney has low-key brought Marvel and Star Wars back. I’m stoked for this next era.
