Hola. Welcome, welcome to the 4th edition of ‘The Open Letter’! I know, it’s been months since I sent out my last edition of the newsletter, and I apologise for that :).
I hope you’re all doing well. Last few months I was busy learning, travelling, job hunting and delivering talks at the KubeCons. It was fun meeting a lot during this span!
So, first, let’s quickly take a look at the cool things that happened in the past weeks and last month:
Google announced the all-new Pixel 10 line-up, with amazing AI capabilities (of course, it’s 2025), and there are a lot of comments I saw of pople thinking of switching from iPhone to Pixel as Apple's inelegance was show-flopper this year. And the 10 series is really great!
Google introduced Gemini CLI. It’s open source, hosted on GitHub and one of the fastest-growing repos (in terms of stars) on GitHub. Google call it an “open source AI agent” that brings the power of Gemini directly into your terminal.
GitHub CEO Thomas is stepping down, and there are some speculations and reports that GitHub to merge with Microsoft's AI engineering team.
Just like defining services or volumes in Docker Compose, now we can define AI models. With `docker compose up` or down, the model is created or removed on demand.
OpenAI released Advanced open-weight (not open source) reasoning models named gpt-oss-120 and gpt-oss-20. It’s good to see some transparency.
As it’s TechTember (Tech + September), there will be a lot of new hardware released, starting with Samsung on the 4th, Apple on the 9th, Oppo between 12-14th, etc.

Docker Compose has always been one of my favourite features, and now it has become even more powerful. In Compose, you can now define LLM models to run alongside your stack. I wrote a blog on this.
KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2026 will happen in March in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The CFPs are open.
A small win I want to share is that my open source maintainer journey story got featured on the Open Source Initiative website as one of the few maintainers, also hand-picked during Maintainer Month. They also publish a book and get a custom domain: maintaine.rs.
