I’m a firm believer that you can change the direction of your career path at any time. Just because you’ve spent a decade pushing yourself and climbing the rungs of a particular ladder, doesn’t mean that’s what you have to do for the rest of your life. If an opportunity arises to side-step to a different ladder, or if you feel the urge to climb back down and start from the bottom doing something completely different — go for it.
I’ve had a few pivotable moments in my career journey; the four points that stand out are autumn 2010, summer 2015, autumn 2022 and Christmas 2024. I’ll delve deeper into each of these moments below, but these were the times in my adult life where I made a huge decision that set my career path in a new direction, eventually leading me to where I am today.
I’m sticking this behind a paywall as it feels very personal to write about. Upgrade your subscription for just £50 a year / £5 a month to read this, all of my archives and all new newsletters in full.
