Hello and welcome to our Sunday edition of The Valiant for August 2.
Vale got another pre-season win under their belts as Jasper Moon’s 84th-minute header from Kyle Dempsey’s corner earned a 1-0 victory at League One Blackpool.
That was reward for a much-improved second half performance after Blackpool looked the better side in the opening 45 minutes, controlling possession and forcing Jackson Smith into two excellent saves.
Jon Brady put an extra man in midfield after the break and his side came right back into the game, albeit that comes with the usual caveat about this being a friendly and the winner coming after both sides had made multiple changes off the bench.
But Vale remain unbeaten in pre-season and next face a behind-closed-doors game against a PFA team before the competitive action begins with Friday’s trip to Wolves in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
We’ve got talking points from the game and more in this morning’s edition.
