Pattern, Abstraction, and Nostalgia

When we first spotted Erin’s work on instagram we were blown away by her exuberant use of colour, along with a very clear eye for and understanding of knitwear design. Her work is playful and often uses a lot of smaller amounts and scraps, something that we love for its simultaneous ‘make do and mend’ and maximalist feel. Using up what you have to hand, combining colours in unexpected ways, and dressing for your inner child are all things that come to mind when we look at Erin’s work, and were exactly why we asked her if she would be open to working with us! Very happily she said yes, and we’ve been lucky enough to publish two of Erin’s patterns so far; Dreamscape and Scrappy Checkers, and there’s another, a collage cardigan, in the works! Whenever we work with a designer we are interested in what brought them to what they do, what influences they draw from and what it is that excites them about making, and we are so happy we’ve been able to ask Erin some questions about just that. We hope you enjoy her answers as much as we have.
