blaugust 2026

it seems silly to be this nervous about writing again! heart racing and all that. then again, reframing it as an "inner applause" 1 makes it more bearable. i read sylvia's intentions to join blaugust this year , and it took me a while to decide, but i'm joining as well! i want to ease into writing regularly for my blog again! there are (optional) weekly prompts , and i'll likely start with these…

less stuff, more stuff

i would like for less stuff to stay in my screenshots folder, and more stuff to be in spaces that i actually like visiting over and over again

blurry lines

Learned about the Moro painter and sculptor Abdulmari Imao through an essay on Facebook about the commercialization and dumbing down of art in local spaces (which I will look for again). The lines between our environment shaping us and vice versa have never been so blurry. But perhaps there is still hope in pushing for the changes we want to see.

starting with the book

I could not, for the life of me, remember how or why I started reading this article , but it's how I learned about Tomi Adeyemi's Children of Blood and Bone . Might start with the book first! Not sure yet if the article is having an impact on my decision to watch the film or not.

uncomfortable curiosity

Saw a clip from " The Rapture " BBC series -- the link doesn't lead to the actual clip tho -- and felt a bit uncomfortable watching it. Would like to know more of it! Looks like it's based on a book , so I could start from there.

intersection

Read an article about an upcoming film "Immaculada" by Charlie Garcia Vitug. Looking forward to the intersection of gothic horror and women's rights!!

older queers

While going thru Pinterest to gather references (poor choice, I know), I saw a picture of four women with the title " Manok ." Thought it was Filipino (manok means chicken in Filipino), it turns out to be a South Korean one. Love the focus on older Asian queers!!!

recontextualization

Saw a clip on Facebook (yet again) from a new film called "Wonderful Nightmare," specifically the Filipino adaptation of the original South Korean one . Love the recontextualization!!

reminder of humanity

From a post my friend T shared on Facebook, I learned about Mine Okubo's work, specifically Citizen 13660 . May we continue to remember art as a reminder of each other's humanity.

mini thoughts part 2

just realized these can be anything i want. so i'll do just that: write about anything i want! re: sims hyperfixation ⋆˚࿔ june 2026 marks my return to the sims, specifically the sims 2. it consumes most of my consciousness, and i've been dealing with the desire to play it almost every day. i can't do that, of course. i have (other) things to do. but sometimes it seems to precede my personal…
