Ascension St. Vincent’s is expanding access to cardiovascular care in St. Johns County by welcoming cardiologist Dr. Barry Kusnick to its local practice, according to an Aug. 19 announcement.

Dr. Kusnick, who has longstanding experience diagnosing and treating a range of cardiovascular conditions, is now seeing patients at the Cardiology Clinic on the campus of Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Johns County at 300 St. Elizabeth Way, Suite 110. There are plans for him to open a new clinic in St. Augustine at a later date.

Sean McAfee, president and CEO of Ascension St. Vincent's St. Johns County, said, "As more families choose to call St. Johns County home, it's essential that access to specialty care grows alongside the community." McAfee added, "Dr. Kusnick’s clinical expertise and commitment to compassionate, personalized care makes him an outstanding addition to our cardiovascular team. His arrival allows us to care for more patients locally while continuing to deliver the high-quality heart care our community deserves."

Dr. Kusnick previously practiced with an independent primary care and specialty group in the region and has built relationships with physicians and patients across Northeast Florida during his career.

"I've had the privilege of caring for patients in this community for many years, and I'm excited to continue that work with Ascension St. Vincent's," said Dr. Kusnick. "Heart care is most effective when patients have timely access to trusted physicians close to home. I look forward to working alongside an exceptional team to help more people in our community achieve better heart health."

Ascension St. Vincent's continues efforts across Northeast Florida by expanding cardiovascular services such as preventive cardiology, advanced imaging, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and cardiac rehabilitation.
