Writing a book is creative. Publishing it is technical. Most writers feel lost somewhere in between.
I’ve created this Substack because I’ve met and helped hundreds of authors who have questions about the writing and publishing process. I want to give you practical steps so you can successfully write and publish your own book.
This site is for:
• Writers who feel overwhelmed and confused about the steps of writing a book
• Writers who have written a first (or second or third…) draft but aren’t happy with it, and don’t know what’s wrong
• Authors who are trying to figure out how the indie publishing process works
If you’re just starting out, visit the Start Here tab. You’ll find two articles that will help get you started. That page also provides a roadmap of “Pillar” topics that will help you understand the different steps of writing and publishing a book.
You can also explore this site by clicking on the different tabs:
• Writing
• Editing
• Tools
I’ve published a number of novels and have spent over sixteen years helping other authors and publishers format and prepare their book files for KDP, IngramSpark, and Barnes & Noble. I hope my experience can help you, too. (Learn more about my experience on the About page.)
You don’t have to figure all of this out alone. Just start here.
