Dear Playdates with Death Community,
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our beloved founder, Lea Schweitz, passed away on September 24, 2025.
Many of you first met Lea on February 28, 2024, when she courageously opened her heart and life story to you in her origin post.
Since then, she has been a radiant beacon for all of us learning how to live fully alongside the daily presence of mortality.
Lea’s vision of turning the difficult work of getting our affairs in order into something playful, joyful, and deeply connected has transformed how many approach the inevitable. She made a daunting topic accessible, community-driven, and even life-affirming. Her family and closest friends will be honoring her life at a Playdate to celebrate her remarkable journey and the love she so generously shared. You can read Lea’s obituary and details of the Playdate here.
In the spirit of Lea’s work, let us continue to brave the conversations about mortality together—supporting one another with the courage, humor, and humanity she exemplified. As always, we invite you to join us at upcoming gatherings, where we keep her vision alive: making peace with death and celebrating the preciousness of life.
With love and gratitude,
The Playdates with Death Team
