Easy breakfasts, a Brick review, & so much ice cream

Happy Monday! After two weekends away, I (Aliza) am thrilled to be at home for a few weeks. Also, is anyone actually sleeping these days?? Between the World Cup, the Fourth, and the long days of sunlight… At least July is kicking off with a bang!

1. A few of my favorite reads so far from the Royal Wedding: Taylor Told You Who She Was The First Time by Natalie Reilly, What Celebs Wore to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedding, and Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedding Plot. I can’t stop reading.

2. This incredible Nashville-based singer reminds me of a country Chappell Roan.

4. An easy breakfast that makes mornings run smoother —I let Jude add chocolate chips.

1. When I got the Brick a few weeks ago, I started a “no social media” session… and still haven’t ended it. Every time I’m tempted, I shrug and decide to do something else instead. My screen time was previously bonkers, so this is an unexpected (and welcome) turn of events. I feel like a Substack cliché, but I recommend the Brick!!

2. Activities that have been filling the void: reading an early copy of my friend Elizabeth Wellington Rollins’ debut novel, The Three Graces of Pearl Street (delightful), selling my clothes on Poshmark (satisfying), and watching The Comeback (hilarious).

3. Speaking of IRL activities, isn’t this a gorgeous deck of cards?

   

4. This essay brought me to tears.

5. I’ve been using this to make ice cream so often that when I jokingly asked Sam if I should bring it on our three-week trip, he thought I was serious.

6. Some upcoming work events gave me an excuse to put in an AYR order — including this striped shirt, these pants, and this breezy top. (Aliza: I’m obsessed with these!)

I (Aliza) am currently in two book clubs — both of which are fantastic. But anyone who’s ever been in a book club knows the hardest part is the moment at the end when someone asks, “So... what should we read next?” Everyone whips out their phones to scroll Goodreads and the NYT Books. Someone’s already read the top choice. Someone else heard that book was just meh. It’s never an easy choice!

So I’m curious: what’s your all-time favorite book club pick, and why? Was it unanimously loved? Did it spark a discussion that ran much longer than your usual? I’m excited to read your answers. (Aja: Me too!!)
