Do I need to "Activate Smart Wallet" to receive NFTs?

I'm just trying to open a wallet with NFT capabilities so I can get some free stuff from the giveaways that happen. When I go to "Collectibles", it shows me the Ethereum address that I can use to receive them. It also says "To start sending assets you need to activate smart wallet". This is simply because you need gas to send, correct? I can still receive NFTs with this address despite not…
