One of the reasons I love Port Angeles is the Dream Playground that was built in 2002 by more than 2000 volunteers including Dave and me.

When Dave was in the fifth grade his class was supposed to sing in the big schoolwide Christmas program that Christmas season and they were practicing their songs.

The other morning I was sitting in my favorite chair in the living room reading a book I bought to read on the plane home from a 5 day trip to San Diego when unexpectedly the doorbell rang.

I don’t know about you, but as I’ve read about the weather in many other parts of the country this winter and, worse, seen videos of it on TV, I am increasingly delighted to live here on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington.

As I write this, Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and I am filled with anticipation as to what it holds for me and how my contributions will be met.

Let me ask you for a favor.

By far the biggest highlight of this recent holiday season for Dave and me has been visits from nearly our entire family.

The last week of the year is quickly drawing to a close.
