So often, sadness is the curse of intelligence.
It's like the more you remember -
The more you will wish you could forget.
And the more you understand certain things . . .
The more you will wish you didn't understand them.

When I am in a certain mood
I can find myself missing pretty much
every person I have ever met.
And I don't just mean lost loves or former friends.
Literally, I mean missing people who I might have
spoken to one time on a train.
Or missing people who worked as cashiers
in the local shops when I was a kid.
Or missing the drunks and the gamblers
and the good time girls I used to see on street corners.
Or missing people I never even used to like before . . .
as if I would give anything in this world
for them to be here annoying me again!

Seriously -
it's not normal.
I must be the most sentimental guy in the world.
Or if not . . . perhaps the loneliest.
