In February 2024, we submitted two videos to Monkeypaw Productions’ NO DRAMA Filmmakers Project https://filmfreeway.com/nodramafilmmakersproject —a global initiative designed to identify and support bold, genre-driven filmmakers exploring monsters across culture, psychology, and society.
The program—powered by Universal, the Universal Filmmakers Project, and TIFF—specifically sought writer-directors with a distinct voice, a passion for genre storytelling, and the ability to explore fear without relying on stereotypes, trauma tropes, or conventional dramatic hurdles.
We didn’t get selected.
But we’re still sharing the submissions—because the attempt itself mattered.
