Executive summary: Starting in January you’ll be able to hire me to manage your people for the short term or instead of an internal manager.
Longer version: For years I’ve been teaching managers how to use processes to manage their team members to engagement, satisfaction, and loyalty at work. In that time I’ve developed an entire process I call Prosocial Management that uses behavioral design to take the employee’s progress and align it with the job to be done to create a work plan around goals and a support plan for the manager.
At the same time, organizations increasingly resist training managers to manage better, and are getting rid of managers and entire management layers as a category, because they’re not seeing the return on status quo management practices.
Sounds great to eliminate managers if they’re not getting results, except that everyone needs to be managed well if they’re really going to be successful and satisfied. If people have no access to a good manager very regularly, they’ll disengage and eventually quit or just stop working.
So: I’m offering to be your external people manager. Either short-term when someone is out on disability, family leave, or eldercare for a few months, or to replace an underfunctioning management level. For short-term management it’ll keep team momentum going without causing internal politics or stress across the system while a good manager is out temporarily. To replace individual managers or an entire layer, it’ll cost 25-65% what you’re spending currently for better results.
(If you’re a solo practitioner and you’re thinking “I wish I could have someone manage me,” you can! And you can afford it. Message me and we can talk about how it works.)
Stay tuned for my official opening. And if you know anyone who’s considering reducing management layers and would like to test out external managers, put us in touch and we can work on a pilot.
XO,
Magda
