Well hi there happy camper, I hope your day is going just swell so far! I thought I’d pop into your inbox for a quick update, I’m up to my eyeballs in prep for the annual Moss Street Paint-In! In case you’re not local to Victoria, this is a massssiivve art market, it’s the biggest in the region, approximately 30,000 people show up… 😳😂 I was very fortunate that a lovely fellow Artists for Conservation member Di (aka Art by Di) invited me to use part of one of her tables. Normally I can’t do art markets, fairs, etc, as there’s no way I have space in my tiny condo for a table or tent, let alone how would I get everything I needed to fill up a table to the event on the back of my bike… 😂 But this market is special, and it happens to be quite close to home. Plus because I’m only “borrowing” part of Di’s booth, if I need to leave early due to being in too much pain (very high possibility of that), I can and it’s not a big deal. And yes, this is a photo of part of the market, it’s 2km long and has almost 200 artists participating on both sides of Moss Street, plus food vendors, stations for kids, music, etc.
I’m so grateful to Di for offering me a portion of her table (we haven’t even met in person yet, she lives on a small island near Vancouver), and to my wonderful friend Sharon Lam who is loaning me her greeting card stand and a bunch of small easels for my small work. It really does take a village to get me to a market… 😂😍
So if you’re in Victoria or the region and want to come down and see me (and check out all the other artists, it’s AMAZING), I’ll be at booth 210, at 1019 Moss Street (right at the top of Moss, directly opposite the side of the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria). The Paint-In goes from 11am-4pm, but I can’t guarantee I’ll be there until 4, I will be there from 11 until I get too sore to stay (so hopefully at least a few hours). Wear sunscreen and bring water, it’s going to be a lovely day on Saturday. 😍
And because you’ve subscribed to my email newsletter, here are some sneak peeks of some of the art that I’ll be showing at the Paint-In. Of course all the originals there are only one of each, but I’ll also be bringing art cards and 8x10 prints (and a few canvas prints). Aaaand I’ll have some colouring sheets to give out to kids based on some of my recent paintings — I’ve never done colouring sheets before so if you like colouring and would like those to be offered on my website, just let me know in the comments. Obviously the sheets will be in black and white, I just did a coloured version to show what colours someone could use to be relatively close to the original paintings. ❤️
And don’t forget I have three paintings currently being shown in the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria’s Summer Small Works Show. It’s free to enter that gallery (and the whole gallery will be free to explore on the day of the Paint-In), so do check that out too if you’re going to be coming to the Paint-In. And there will be food vendors and a beer garden out front of the gallery as well. 😍
In other news I’m slowly working on my new painting series revolving around BC forest wildlife, the raccoon I think is mostly done and I’ve just started on the wolf (the wolf I haven’t shown this full image publicly yet). ☺️
