Tuesday Monday Dump

Paul Lorello · Free Demons

Yesterday was all about eating street corn salad in solemn memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Thus, I was unable to provide a proper Monday Dump.

Thus, the Tuesday Monday Dump!

I have to tell you, the older I get, the more inconvenienced I am by holidays. It’s become a sad state of affairs and I’m turning into someone I despise. I used to love holidays. Now, they’re just one more obstacle between me and the flute-fragile goals I’ve set for myself, which stand ready to be shattered by the barest glimpse of a peripheral mote.

All that to say this: I don’t need a society-imposed pause button. I’ve got my own, and they’re within reach wherever I am.

Case in point, here are today’s high and lowbrow distractions…

SCHEMATA CRISIS??? you shriek.

Have a look at this…

Plural: schemata. But hey, who am I to educate?

From the site:

In psychology, a schema is a cognitive framework or concept that helps organize and interpret information. Simply put, a schema describes patterns of thinking and behavior that people use to interpret the world.

Who I am in the shower may very well be—at various times—who I am in conversation, on the page, in my dreams, or on the job. When I’m working on a story, the whole world is the story, and the world includes myself and all my masks.

That said, I’m through with musing for the time being. Let’s do some strange.

Today we look at… Museums!

If you’re anti-entropy like me, you hold sites like this in very high regard indeed. No hoarder am I, but I’m a big fan of preserving for posterity, especially when it comes to the mundane.

“Who’ll save us from the dust?”

Oh, and there’s a shoutout to Zeiss lens cloths, the greatest lens cloths on the planet.

((ALL HAIL ZEISS))

Ian might need a hug

I don’t know who Ian Fieggen is, but I can’t help feeling that this monomaniacal colossus ought to be feared on a cosmic scale. Just have a look for yourself and tell me I’m wrong. I’m open to changing my mind.

Till then, it’s arm’s length with Ian.

  • Sidenote: This may not technically count as a museum.

From Merriam-Webster:

museum

noun

mu·se·um

:an institution devoted to the procurement, care, study, and display of objects of lasting interest or value

I say it is. You may argue amongst yourselves, but I say it is.

Now we talkin.

Many of my aural fixations congealed into one site. And talk about anti-entropy. We got typewriters, we got Nokia phones, we got Space Invaders. Just clicking on that one cramped up my thumb. And let’s not discuss the gut-twisting anxiety when those fuckers started speeding up their march. It all came back in the best of ways.

Check it out here.

And we move on (with hope) to…

|5| The Museum of Broken Relationships

Whether it’s to engage in schadenfreude or to cull gentle reminders of the fragility of souls, click on a broken heart for your daily dose of counterirritation.

FYI, Zagreb is looking for contributions. Who knew there’d be a dearth of heartbreak in Zagreb?

And lastly…

That’s all I got.

Catch you on the flip flop!
