Patti Friday, Abstract, Acrylic on Gallery Canvas

Hey friends,

Ever found yourself standing in front of an abstract painting, head tilted slightly, thinking... what am I even looking at? And then—strangely—you just stay there?

Same.

There’s something about abstract art that just sticks. Not because we fully understand it (we don’t), but because it kind of understands us. Weird, right?

See, the thing is: abstract art doesn’t try to explain itself. It’s not giving you a plot. It’s not spelling anything out. It’s more like... a mirror for your insides. The shapes, the colors, the chaos or calm—it all skips past the brainy parts of you and goes straight to your gut. Or your heart. Or wherever your quiet feelings live.

And that’s the magic.

In a world obsessed with clarity, opinions, productivity, taking sides and knowing everything right now, abstract art whispers:

“Hey. It’s okay not to get it. Just feel.”
(Which, honestly, feels like a public service.)

It invites you to slow down. Breathe. Linger. Maybe even notice something about yourself you didn’t see before.

So whether you’re staring at a Mitchell in a museum or doodling swirls on the back of an envelope, don’t overthink it. That’s kind of the point.

Let it be weird. Let it be beautiful. Let it be.
