Path of Exile

We've got some great news to share regarding two technical issues affecting Path of Exile 2.

After a lot of investigation and optimisation, we finally have a significant update on both the long-standing shader loading issues and the "Device Removed" freezes that many players have been experiencing.

To get the fixes, make sure you've updated to the latest NVIDIA graphics driver, 610.88, then give the game some time to rebuild its shader cache. As the graph below shows, the problem only affects Nvidia graphics cards with drivers above 560. The problem has been fixed in driver 610.88, but if you have 610.47 the fix was rolled out automatically around a week ago.

After downloading the new PoE update or updating your driver, you'll experience longer loading times while shaders recompile and you encounter different areas and mechanics again.

Once the shader cache has been rebuilt, performance should settle into a much better place than it was before.

If you continue to encounter shader loading problems or "Device Removed" crashes after updating both your graphics driver and the game, please let us know by posting in the Bug Reports forum along with your system information so we can continue investigating any remaining issues. We've also highlighted the fix in the patch notes here.

We’ve also made a video explaining the issues here:

We know these issues have been frustrating for many of you, and we'd like to thank everyone who took the time to submit bug reports, logs and feedback while we worked through them.
