Hi friends,

Happy New Year! 2025 is here, for better or for worse. 2024 was a really incredible year for me both on a personal and professional level and a lot of that is a result of YOU: Supporting the studio, taking classes, buying fabric, following along or just showing your support! So thank you! 😊

I also have BIG NEWS for this year! In the spring, Patchwork will be relocating to Providence RI! I’m so excited to embark on this new chapter. I moved (my home) down to Providence in December after falling in love with the city over the last couple of years. I’m looking forward to bringing the studio down to Rhode Island and I hope that this move will make Patchwork more accessible to a wider array of creative folks and crafty community.

Local Norfolk-area friends, don’t fret! I’m also happy to share that Heirloom New England, the incredible retail shop and craft studio next door, will be expanding their space and adding sewing classes to their wonderful offerings in the Spring.

Patchwork’s new location is set to open in Spring 2025 (most likely April 1st). In the mean time, I won’t be offering group classes other than my Friday AM Open Sewing Studio until we move. However, you can still sign up for private lessons or private small group classes/parties through the end of February. So if you’ve been waiting, now’s the time! All gift certificates and credits will be honored at our new location as well. My goal is to move fairly quickly and get classes going again in our new location ASAP.

In preparation for moving, we’ll be having a HUGE fabric sale on our 2 year Anniversary weekend!

Come score some gorgeous yardage and notions at a huge discount. We’ve got all kinds of quilting, apparel, and upholstery fabric including tencel, designer denim, quilting cotton, linen and linen blends, rib knits, french terry, polar fleece and more. We’ve also got vintage patterns, magazines, various notions, and specialty sewing tools. Here’s a breakdown of the discounts we’re offering:

All folded fabric - Fill a small bag for $5 or a large bag for $15

A fabric on bolts - $3 a yard (normally $5-10 a yard)

All patterns and magazines are $1 each or $5 for 10

All retail notions and tools are 30% off

Scraps, as always, are free! Come load up!

We had a busy Fall at Patchwork! From wrapping up our Coaxing Color onto Cloth workshop series, to making quilts, to sewing graphic sweatshirts and more, we made the most of those cozy crafty feelings Autumn brings.

We wrapped up our super fun Coaxing Summer Onto Cloth workshop series in October. Participants combined all their beautiful nature inspired textiles into quilted marvels.

In December, I held a textile arts unit for a local home school co-op with kids ranging age 7-13. Younger kids worked on small projects, older kids worked on one big themed project. Everyone learned how to block print and sew!

We also hosted a bunch of smaller classes and private lessons where students created some really fun projects. Hope designed and sewed an outfit to wear to Thanksgiving dinner, Emily created a fantastic happy earth appliqued sweatshirt, and Allison, Hannah and Cora all finished their very first quilt!

Overall it’s been a pretty stellar two years in Norfolk, so thank you for all the wonderful memories, fun projects, and great conversations. I’m excited to see how Patchwork grows in its new location and I hope you’ll come visit us in Providence this Spring!
