i’ve been trying to write a big fat ol’ essay about how your brain is an antenna, but you know what? fuck it. let me just talk to you about it. join me this Saturday 3:30pm Pacific at Genius Teatime.
this is how I described my talk to the organizers:
Where do ideas come from? How do thoughts exist? Science has struggled to define what consciousness even is, saying that's the job of the poets and philosophers. The poets and philosophers, on the other hand, are just as clueless, speaking in riddles and metaphors that science can't quantify.
Sometimes-poet, not-very-good-philosopher, former journalist and singer-songwriter Suzanne Yada is as good as anyone to speak to the facts and metaphors of what it means to be a conscious being. In her talk, "Your Brain is an Antenna," she brings together scientific research and creative imagining to develop a hypothesis that could answer some questions science has yet to figure out.
Or not. Who knows? She's just a songwriter. But hear her out.
it happens 3:30 PM pacific on Zoom this Saturday, Sept. 14.
suggested donation $10-30. no one turned away for lack of funds.
