Cortney Charles passed away July 26, 2026, at the age of 61. She was born Sept. 13, 1964, in Parsons, to Hugh Charles and Carole (Breneman) Charles. Cortney attended Labette County High School, transferring later to Lakemary Center at Paola. She spent several years working toward a GED at Labette Community College, never giving up on learning something new.

Nicolas Sanchez, 74, of Parsons, died at 5:48 p.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at his home. He was born Oct. 25, 1951 at Sioux City, Iowa, a son of Nicholas Menesses and Lola Lee (Holmes) Sanchez. The family worked for a carnival and Nicolas grew up in various communities. They eventually settled in Erie, Kansas, where he graduated from high school in 1970. He was drafted into the U.S.
