I’ve come back to Minecraft frequently throughout my life. I’ve played custom maps, joined various servers, hosted a few for friends and family, worked on mods, and even taught classes on making custom maps and mods for kids. It’s impacted me quite significantly at most stages of my life, and now with a kid of my own I don’t see Minecraft leaving my life anytime soon. Hell, I’ll probably still be picking it up in retirement!
Typically when I play these days, it’s in a “burst”. I’ll find an interesting modpack, play through some or all of its progression, learning about new mods and updates along the way, and eventually just stop playing again (until the next burst). Similar to my enjoyment of Incremental Games, I really enjoy strong (fast) progression systems.
