p.s. whipping up a custard can always feel a tad bit intimidating– particularly the part about setting up a Bain-Marie (i.e. water bath). But I got news for you: whipping up a perfectly silky smooth lemon curd is possible without one, think just a saucepan and a whisk!

and the thought: turns out today’s crunchy ingredient, the humble poppy seed, is part of one of nature’s most powerful plants: the poppy.
