An astrologer's place in the modern world

When you go against the grain, you will always face a lot of resistance, badmouthing, even taunts and ridicule.

Most people feel secure in themselves when others are like them, think like them, etc. If someone is not like them, especially doesn't think like them, it makes them question themselves, disturbs the placidity of consciousness and they don't like that. In Scandinavia, this everyone-be-like-everyone is even a culture, the natural law of society, called janteloven. (If you have read Henrik Ibsen, especially plays like The Master Builder, you know Scandinavia well. It is the worst possible place for human spirit to thrive.)

Thus, in life, you have two paths open to you: that of security and acceptance, or that of following the truth that you have had the luck and courage to discover. The second path will always be more difficult to walk on. If it has become easy, it means that you probably aren’t walking on that path anymore.

As an astrologer, I live in this world every moment. I face a lot of taunts by online trolls. Some will think me loony. Some think astrology has to be some kind of con job. Some think it must be someone who has no education that must be doing it (that one's the most funny, because good astrology requires an inordinately high intelligence.) Some look at it as if it is something worse than even porn.

But people will always be a herd: they will always follow whatever they have been taught, resistant to change. Change means sticking out. They have been taught that nothing is true in this world unless there a cause-and-effect relationship exists and can be proven.

And yet, the very same people are born and they love, breathe, dream and die one day.

Can the sucking reflex of a newborn be explained as how it originated? Is love not real because it cannot be proven by any science? Do dreams not happen because science does not understand them? Does death not happen because science does not understand it?

Best of all, no statistical study has ever been done on a good astrologer's predictions. Science is also observation and hypothesis: otherwise, we wouldn't be studying dark matter. Unfortunately, most modern scientists are busy with what is politically acceptable, to get their grants and tenures, rather than the seeking of truth. They actually have abandoned real science, which only means to seek truth, not label things and abandon them.

So if you are a student or practitioner of something others don't believe in, do not be disheartened. Just make sure you are testing it thoroughly, not deluding yourself. For astrology also involves a lot of herds of its own: after all, how much can you walk outside of the herd? The herd gets most of us sooner or later. But, if you are not deluding yourself, only following the truth that you can see, prove and predict, then it doesn't matter how many walk with you, for truth is like the warmth of the Sun: it has its own unparalleled reward.
