Appraisals | Claire Boyles
This one caught my eye the other day and the publisher was kind enough to send a copy along. Claire Boyles’ debut novel is a multi-generation family novel set on a farm in Colorado against the backdrop of the 2008 recession. It earned a starred review from Kirkus, calling it “An achingly beautiful testament to human bonds with the environment and with each other.”
Villa Coco | Andrew Sean Greer
Doubleday
Spiritually, I would love to read all of the Booker Longlist - I would. But there is a heaviness to some of those beautifully written and well-crafted books that I just cannot ingest during the August heat. Villa Coco for me is the perfect tonic - particularly in these days when I am really missing Italy and all the eccentricity which abounds there.
