Les Misérables

by Victor Hugo

Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition

This deckled-edge delight was printed in 2013 but it wasn’t until a year or two ago when I spotted it on Sara Hildreth’s socials. She was sporting a copy covered in little flags across 1400 pages and I just knew that if ever I was going to read this book, that this was the edition I needed to have. I look at it a lot, but I think it’s going to be one of two winter chonks that I will tackle once the pumpkin spiced lattes are in bloom. This and Anne Rice’s The Witching Hour…for balance.

Death in Venice

Pushkin Press Classics

by Thomas Mann

I’m going to be real honest with you, once I see a well-designed collection of classics, reissues or any other kind of treasure, I’m done for. I will spiral until I collect them all. Death in Venice is my first and only of the Pushkin Classics series but we’ll get there in the end. I’ve been meaning to read this little novel for ages. I guess I was just waiting for the right edition.
