PACT Is Back: Conversations, Creativity & Craft

We’re excited to kick things off with the revival of one of our favorite series: At the Desk.

At the Desk is our ongoing interview series where we sit down with writers to talk about the work that happens behind the page. Rather than focusing solely on finished books or publications, these conversations explore creative practice itself. It’s a chance to step inside a writer’s process and celebrate the many ways creativity unfolds.

We’re also launching The Creatives, a new interview series celebrating Pacific University MFA alumni whose artistic practices extend beyond the written word. From theater and music to visual art and beyond, The Creatives explores how working across multiple creative disciplines continues to shape each artist’s writing, imagination, and way of seeing the world.

on Sunday, August 30, with Melissa McKinstry’s Ekphrasis as Meditation & Discovery. Building on ideas introduced in her previous craft talk while remaining completely accessible to newcomers, this interactive workshop invites participants to use visual art as a springboard for meditation, observation, and creative discovery through close reading, discussion, and generative writing.
