This week there was quite a lot of new information released. We got the NAB Business Survey, the RBA rate decision, average weekly earnings and vacancy rates. Later today we will get new lending data however, I am not going to have a chance to write that up, I will have a deeper-dive into this data on my Substack early next week.

Next week we’re looking at the release of new data on the wages, employee earnings, online job advertisments and the latest labour force survey. If there is anything else unexpected out I’ll be all over it too.

NAB Business Survey July 2026

Key insights

  • After 3 consecutive monthly increases, business confidence fell 1 point in July to -6 index points highlighting ongoing weakness in confidence from businesses.

  • Business conditions were 1 point higher over the month rising to +4 index points but remain below the long-run average of +7 points.

  • The components of business conditions were mixed with employment rising 2 points, profitability 1 point higher and trading unchanged.
